If a teacher has to cancel a lesson, students will be given the opportunity to reschedule or just cancel, free of charge.

During your initial sign up, you will be sent a student questionnaire to fill in and get back to us before your first lesson so we are as prepared as possible.
If you are a more experienced musician, you should bring along some music or a song you feel comfortable performing so your teacher can assess what is the best route for you. Beginners need not worry about this so much except for singers - it’s always helpful if you’re prepared with a song you know but don’t worry too much if not!
Your teacher will go through your questionnaire to find out exactly what you want out of lessons, you’ll start with some warm ups and away you go! We have an Instagram reel about your first lesson if you’d like to check it out.

Instrumentalists will definitely need their own instrument sooner rather than later but please don’t rush to buy one for the sake of it. If you don’t already have one, your teacher will discuss your options during your first lesson and there are hire options as well as purchase to save any costly mistakes.

We are currently using LCM and ABRSM. Exam session are run three times a year and the boards are now also offering performance exams which are recorded rather than live.
Many students find that taking exams helps with their progression and gives them a goal to work towards. However, this is not for everyone and at Aspire, we aim to give students the best support and opportunities for their individual development.

We appreciate that children can be nervous and so having a parent nearby can be a great comfort during a first lesson. However, we do find we get more out of students if parents are not within ear shot, so we provide a comfortable waiting room for parents to sit in.
